The
Adventures of
Rockin'
Randi

April 2, 2004
I now understand why most of middle
America chooses to medicate their children. I had the pleasure of
taking care of a severely out of control 4th grader this past week.
It was the kid's first day in our afterschool program and in the
beginning I thought he was going to
be a good kid. He looked a bit nerdy and seemed to be a little off
but that's not unusual with some of the kids we care for. During
snack time, however, he started his downfall. He kept burping in
the other kids' faces. Most kids laugh at this and go on but
apparently this kid took it to an extreme and wouldn't stop, even when
the kids begged him to quit. During homework time the child
continued his "entertainment" and began to make fart
sounds. The kids again asked
him to stop. He wouldn't so we just ignored him. When it was time
to clean up, the kid refused to get up from his table. I admit, I
was at a loss and ignored him. Finally, he did but then tried to
throw the tables which are on wheels at the other children. This was the
final straw for me and I have to admit, I was surprised at how well I
handled myself. I grabbed the table and held it still while he
tried to wrestle it from me. He then began punching and kicking
me. I wanted to scream at the kid to just shut the fuck up and
knock it off. I wanted to tell him to stop acting like a damn
psycho and just be normal but being the adult, I couldn't. The
director of the program then grabbed his arms and held him there until
his father came to pick him up. I kid you not, she had to sit on
his legs just to keep him in her control. During the whole
incident he was screaming. It was a sight. I feared the
incident bordered on abuse but the kid was out of control and was
putting the others in danger. I had never seen a kid act like this and
it was quite frightening. I'm sure there are a multitude of things
that could cause such behavior but it definitely made me put off any
plans to have children for at least ten years.
I finally got to watch this week's episode of the Sopranos. Since
I have to be at work at the butt crack of dawn I'm forced to tape it
every Sunday night. What is up with this new compassionate side of
Tony? I have to say that I was severly disappointed when he
decided not to whack Feech and instead set him up to go back to prison.
What a pussy!! Have some respect and shoot him in the chest!!
I'm anxious to see who will be offed this week. E-mail me any
guesses. I have a sneaking suspicion in might be Adriana but the
previews always lead you to believe the opposite of what will really
happen. Could Johnny Sack be the next to take it in the eye??
Let me know what you think.
Eventually will all of the world meet their significant others through a
dating website?? While I don't question the women who use such a
device, I do question a guy's motive. Not many 20-somethings I
know sit around pining for the love of their life. Maybe I'm wrong
though. Maybe guys are a lot more sensitive than I give them
credit for. Anyway, it leads me to ask what's the point?? My
friend Alex is
currently using a service. She's been dating this guy for a couple
of months and said he seemed okay at first. The other night she
sent me an instant message dialogue from him. He asked if she was
a parking ticket because she had fine written all over her. Ummm, yeah,
okay buddy.
Jason mentioned the Friendster website earlier this week. This is
also something I don't get. I joined a few months ago and am
repeatedly embarrassed each time I go back to the site. Most of my
friends are ones from way back in college or from the days I worked at
Cedar Point...for the most part they're people I don't really remember
or care to remember but it still pains me to see that nobody has rated
my profile or even visited it. I guess I need to expand my number
of acquaintances. Well, I'm out...feel free to comment or
criticize at randiwvu@yahoo.com
